The 2023 ICC Men’s One-Day Cricketer of the Year is Virat Kohli.
On Thursday, Pat Cummins of Australia won the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy. The ICC Men’s One Day Cricketer of the Year award for the 2023 season was awarded by former Indian captain Virat Kohli on Thursday, adding another noteworthy silverware to his already extensive trophy cabinet. Leading Team India under Rohit Sharma in the ICC World Cup 2023, the former captain of India was instrumental in the host country’s success at the bat in the ODI World Cup, smashing multiple records at home and leading the run machine, Virat Kohli, to the tournament’s finale the previous year.

The ICC Men’s One Day Cricketer of the Year 2023 award has four nominees, including Kohli. Along with Kohli, Mohammed Shami, Daryl Mitchell of New Zealand, and opening batsman Shubman Gill competed for the prized ICC trophy. For the two-time world champions, Kohli amassed 1377 runs, claimed one wicket, and held 12 catches in 27 games. As the 2023 World Cup came to an end, the batting icon led the tournament in runs scored and finished first for India.

In the ICC event the previous year, he was named Player of the Tournament. In his 11 innings during the 50-over World Cup, he amassed nine half-centuries. The leading batsman broke the record for most runs by a batsman in World Cup history with a total of 765.
In the World Cup, Kohli achieved a historic first by surpassing Sachin Tendulkar to become the first batsman to hit 50 hundreds in the ODI format. With a strike rate of 90.31 and an average of 95.62, Kohli led the Indian team to victory in the World Cup. In the highlight match, the batting master scored three centuries.
Cummins wins the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy, and Khawaja is named the best Test cricketer. In recognition of Usman Khawaja’s exceptional efforts across all international cricket formats, the ICC has named him the Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year for 2023. To win the ICC award, Khawaja defeated Joe Root of England, Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, and Travis Head. Rachin Ravindra of New Zealand won the ICC Men’s Emerging Cricketer of the Year title, while top-order batsman SuryaKumar Yadav was named the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year 2023. After a trophy-filled season, Australian captain Pat Cummins made a claim for the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy in 2023 as the team’s leader.
